Normal healthy skin for men has potential of hydrogen (pH) range of 5.4-5.9 and a normal bacterial flora. Women have a slightly more acidic skin type sitting at a pH 4.8, but we’ll come to that soon. Use of soap with high pH causes an increase in skin pH, which in turn causes an increase in dehydrative effect, irritability and alteration in bacterial flora.

Now a pH of 5.5 isn’t possible with a natural soap bar which sits at around pH 8-10 on average, and we tried. Instead we have used naturally derived ingredients and so Bob is a soap- free syndet bar. See more info on this below.
